just watched a movie entitled Perfect Stranger starring Harry Belle
quite surprised by the ending as i din expect it at all
wanted to watch black swan but don't know why i just couldn't load that movie...sigh
a relaxing sunday i guess!
yesterday went to a NGO named SHELTER for my leadership group assignment
we need to be volunteers for any NGO and come out with a report for that.
Basically, SHELTER provides shelters for kids from primary school ages till the ones who are already in secondary schools. most of the children there have a slightly different background from the considered normal children like us. they stay there mainly due to reasons like they are being abused, neglected or have poor studies performance. they are not orphans! some of them have been staying there for quite a while and some of them go back home at night as if there is just a different kind of nursery center.
my group went to the shelter for teenage boy
kinda worry at first because is never easy to deal with teenagers
as expected, we were not welcomed warmly by them
they are behaving cold to us and it took us quite some time trying to break the ice
there is a boy who is only 13 and had been staying there for 7 years who leave me a huge impression. he is the one who behave most negatively to us and keep trying to act as a bad boy...at least that what i am thinking about
i did not see him as a bad kid although he keep responded me with rude attitude..in fact i make fun of his bad attitude as a psychological strategy to attract girls as people always had the perception that girls like bad boy...haha
he keep saying that i am very lame as i keep trying to talk with him....even so, i think he kinda like me (as a volunteer who came to visit).
hahaha...how can i be so narcissist...lol
in the end, i still don't know what he had gone through and caused him to be so reserved but i bet it is definitely something i could ever able to imagine.
there is another boy who is at the same age as my brother, 16.
he is very friendly and very positive
he only got 2 marks for his addmath so i insisted him to show me his homework
i ended up being a tutor teaching him functions while my friends playing card game with the rest of the boy except the loner boy who i mentioned just now.
we planned to play basketball with them at first but it rained...sigh
however, we still manage to play basketball for a while before we left
is kinda sad when we wanted to leave
at first we cant wait to leave after receiving so unfriendly response from them
after a few hours of games, chatting and teasing with them, things get better
in a nut shell, i am surprised that the shelter is actually quite well-maintained
it is quite a big house in which there are a few bedrooms where all the boys have their own beds, a study room equipped with computers, piano, 4 bathrooms and also kitchen. i guess there is financial aid from the parents who sent their kids there
we also donate some daily needs to them
seeing them...about the same age as my younger brother, i felt that i am so lucky to have my family
is not that they look sad...actually all of them looks very happy and active
we do not know their what are the stories behind why they are there as this must be kept as secret by the staff....sincerely hoping that everyone can live happily
